Baptism

Baptism takes place by full immersion in water as part of one our services. A baptism is deeply personal, symbolic and touching. Baptism is an important part of our community as we believe all who know and love the Lord Jesus are called to be baptised.

Baptism symbolises the end of our old life and being born into a new life in Christ. Baptism signifies being united with Christ in his death and resurrection, expresses the repentance and cleansing we receive and bears witness to the call God has placed on each of our lives.

When we read of baptism in the New Testament we see recorded those baptised receiving God’s Spirit for service in the church and world. When we baptise someone at Baptists Together in Surbiton we’ll spend time with the candidate in prayer, asking for God’s equipping and strength in their calling.

“Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Acts 2:37-38

Thinking of being baptised?

If you are interested in being baptised then please speak to our minister, Adam, or one of the leaders. We run courses on baptism as requested, this will be an opportunity to explore the meaning of baptism, Biblical principles and explore why you should get baptised.
