Each week we meet for a very informal afternoon service. We explore our faith and its meaning though a variety of different ways. Bible study, prayer, mission, music, art, dance and much more.

History

Oaklands was built on land donated to Charles Haddon Spurgeon, by Jane Woodfall. Jane's wish was that the working people of the area should have the opportunity to hear the gospel of Jesus. The first sermon was preached in 1874 by Spurgeon himself.

Balaclava was formed by a group breaking away from Oaklands in 1898. The two fellowships remained in close contact and several attempts were made to re-unite them over the years. Finally, in 2000 the two fellowships successfully merged. The churches now act as one in all things except finance. The legal steps required to unite the two churches into a single entity are currently being pursued.
