On Sunday morning we’ll be gathering for our monthly all-age service at Oakands, starting at 10.30.

This coming Sunday we’ll be considering joy as we continue our look at the fruit of the spirit.

If you plan to come then we need your help to make one part of the service run smoothly. If you could bring a stapler and/or sellotape then we’d be really grateful. Every person will need one staple or one little piece of sellotape. So don’t worry, we won’t use all your staples of sellotape!

You’ll remember that Jesus met a woman by the well and transformed her life in John 4; we hope that the well will be a place where people come and meet Christ, are transformed and go and tell others of the love they have received. I want to underline that the well is being led by us here at BTS.

On Sunday we are having a service together that I want to see as many people along as possible. The evening service will be from 18.00 to about 18.45. This decision needs to be formally agreed by the members at the Special Church Meeting on Sunday morning, which will follow immediately after the morning service.

Our traditional evening service will, from now on, only meet on the first Sunday of each month for a communion service.  This service will start at the usual time of 18.30.

Every week we will have an afternoon service from 15.30-17.30 at Balaclava Road.  This service is being led by Jacky Bone and myself, with everyone keen to help and be involved welcome to come along.  This service will be very informal and be styled similar to our cafe services.  At the moment we can't say exactly how it will look and feel as we don't know until we start and see what the users of this service would like.  

The morning service will be as usual at 10.30 at Oaklands.

Messy Church is for families with babies through to primary school aged children and happens every half-term. This week we’ll be having our Christmas themed Messy Church. Loads of crafts, games, stories, songs and pizzas for the whole family - all completely free of charge. No need to book, just turn up on the day.

Doors open at 15.15 and we’ll take the first 60 children. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult throughout Messy Church. We’ll be finished by 17.30.

If you have bought a ticket or made a donation then you are entitled to a full refund.  Please let myself or Paul know by Sunday 13th December.  Any refunds not claimed within this time will be donated to the Mayor's Charitable Trust.

The website has been updated to provide details of our Christmas services and events - just follow the Christmas 2009 link at the top.

A new feature we have added this year is the ability to download our Christmas posters and invites, so you can print them out at home if you would like to. Why not print out invites and put them in the Christmas cards you give to your neighbours, friends and family? Or why not put a poster up in your front window, place of work, school, local shop or anywhere you are allowed that people will see it.

We'll be gathering the shoeboxes together we've been filling with Christmas goodies over the last 4-6 weeks. The schoeboxes will then be distributed to Smile International, who will give them out to children around the world at Christmas.

On Sunday morning we'll be exploring Mark 14:32-42, a piece of Scripture given the title 'Gethsemane' in Today's New Internation Version. This will continue our series in prayer. With it being the first Sunday of the month the service will be all-age, including action prayers, songs and much more!

We'll meet at 10.30-11.15 for the all-age service at our Oaklands site on Langley Road in Surbiton. Refreshments are served after the service. The series will last 8 weeks and include Biblical teaching, a prayer workshop, cafeservice and an all-age service.

Just a quick reminder that The Alpha Course we are leading with The Community Church begins tomorrow night.

The evening will run at the YMCA in Surbiton from 19.30-21.30 and include a meal.

Adam will lead the talk tomorrow evening looking at ‘Who is Jesus?’

As you all know I was on holiday last week in Norfolk. Now the weather was superb! I spent an hour most mornings doing something I don’t get to do enough when I’m at home – read fiction. Although I’m having to make time now to finish the book I started on holiday!

The service is 10.30-11.30 at our Oaklands site. Everyone is welcome to come along, share fellowship and give thanks to God for His provision.

We’ll be taking a food collection for Kingston Churches Action on Homelessness. We have a variety of different homemade soups and desserts being brought on the night for us all to share. If you plan to come and haven’t signed up yet then drop me an email or leave a comment here. If you are reading this just before the event and haven’t signed up, then please don’t worry and come along anyway. I’m sure we’ll have plenty of food to go around.

We’ll also have a quiz competition as well, to get your table interacting and competing with everyone who comes.

An Alpha Course led by BTS and The Community Church begins on Tuesday 6th October at the YMCA in Surbiton.

The Alpha Course is a superb way for you to explore the meaning of life and ask questions about faith, life and religion. The course is open to anyone who wants to find out if there is more to life.
