SCFC 3-1 Chessington

SCFC 3 - 1 Chessington
1 - OG
1 - Asaad
1 - Aiden

A great night was had by all players and supporters yesterday. The game started with a lot of pressure from Chessington that was soaked up well by the team. Asaad put an end to our desire to keep a clean sheet by netting in our own goal after 30 minutes, but Chessington sportingly returned the favour later in the first half with a much better own goal finish.

We remained well organised in the 2nd half and defended well from the front to the back as a unit, kept the ball on the floor and took a couple of the chances that came our way.

Ahmad and I want to express our thanks to you all - last night was a great effort from everybody playing with the right attitude and letting the ball do the majority of the work. If we can hold that team spirit together and keep implementing what the gaffer asks of us on the pitch then we can challenge the top teams in the league. We will look into getting a few games like last night next season.

Now, not only the result to report but who won what club awards:

Golden Boot - Mike
Player of the Season - Adam F
Clubman of the Year - Matt A
Best Goal - Asaad
Best Save - Matt C
Most Improved - Steve
Funniest Moment - Stuart

Contract negotiations are now in place for the 2010/11 season. First to sign-up is Asaad, who has negotiated a bottle of champagne from Ahmad on scoring 20 goals and helping the team to its first cup final. Similar deals will probably not be so lucrative, but I’m sure the club will go some way to rewarding you all for a cup final!

Training Wednesday from 18.00-19.30 at Alexandra Rec as usual.

RESULT: SCFC v St Martin's

SCFC 4 - 0 ST Martin’s

Aiden - 1
Asaad - 1
Mike - 1
Matt A - 1

MOM - Steve

A much improved St Martin’s team joined us on Saturday for our last game of the season yesterday. Our domination was rewarded just before half-time with a great goal from Aiden. The second half brought more accurate finishing and the goal tally up.

A great end to the season and we look forward to the friendly games coming up.

Well done guys - superb team performance. You were competing and winning the ball all over the park, then getting it on the deck, communicating and playing football. Passing football wins matches.

We face St Martin’s next week in our final league match and I do not expect any one expecting it to be an easy match. They’ll come extra determined to beat us. So lets keep focussed and finish the season on a high.

RESULT: SCFC v Wheatsheaf

SCFC 3 - 4 Wheatsheaf
Asaad - 3
MOM - Asaad

Again, plenty of positives to take out of the game. When we get the ball down, play football and keep our heads up we are a match for anyone in this division. There are just times when we drop our guard and let teams into games, resulting in us losing that positive attitude that is vital to playing well. Fortunately we lifted ourselves with 20 minutes to go and nearly got ourselves a point.

RESULT: SCFC v Tearfund

SCFC 1 - 5 Tearfund
Aiden - 1
MOM - James

Good to get the game played, even if not on our usual ground. We looked a bit of the pace all day, but still managed to create a few chances and were unfortunate on some of the goals conceded.

Keep your heads up as we beaten by the team top of the league, we going into next week knowing we can get a result if we play like we have in recent weeks.

RESULT: SCFC v MBC Thirst

SCFC 0 - 0 MBC Thirst
MOM - Matt A
YC - Adam F

Good game today guys, everyone competed really well. A new record was set today with the first clean sheet being kept in the history of Surbiton Churches Football Club. Special mention going to Matt (GK), Steve (LB), Adam F (CB), Jon (CB), Ahmad (RB) and Matt A (CDM) who defended very tightly. It wasn’t just their performances that got us a draw against the team second in the league - but the fact that we defended from the front.

RESULT - SCFC v Lokomotive

SCFC 4 - 4 Lokomotive
Wayne - 2
Asaad - 1
Mike - 1

MOM - Mike

Good effort from everyone today, working hard and battling. Plenty of positives to take, especially when we get the ball down on the floor. The pitch wasn’t easy to play on and turned into a bog in certain places. But we got our heads down and battled hard to come back from 4-2 down for the draw.

RESULT - Wheatsheaf v SCFC

Wheatsheaf 2-1 SCFC
Edd - 1
Wayne - MOM

The phrase ‘we was robbed’ springs to mind today. They’ve had one shot on target in the second half and it has gone in. A chance that came after we thought the referee had stopped the game. That’s football though and why we love it!

Heads up fellas and get ready for next week against Lokomotive.

SCFC 7 - 6 Molesey

MOM - Asaad

Asaad - 3
Mike - 2
Aiden - 2

Without a recognised goalkeeper available we did remarkably well. At 2-2 at half time we were dominating the match. We were slow to start the 2nd half and suddenly found ourselves 5-2 down with 25 minutes to play. An inspired substitution from Parham saw the introduction of Aiden and Simon. We got the ball on the floor, found some composure and eased our way to 7-5 before letting in a sloppy goal at the end, making the last 3 minutes tense.

Credit must go to Edd for playing the first 45 minutes in goal. Asaad and Mike kept their defenders busy for the whole 90 minutes and were clinical in their finishing. 2 goals from Aiden, his vision in midfield and the defence being solid made the come back possible.

Keep those heads up and prepare for a tough game next week against CS United.

I’ve not had the full report on the game but sounds like it was a close, hard-fought game. Lets put the last few results behind us, have a good Christmas and bounce back strong in 2010.
